Division

Polyphasic

The extreme edge of human sleep architecture. Competitors intentionally fragment sleep to compress total duration while forcing immediate REM onset.

WARNING: The adaptation phase for Polyphasic schedules causes severe sleep deprivation, cognitive impairment, and immunosuppression. This division is restricted to vetted competitors.

Polyphasic sleep (Everyman, Uberman, Dymaxion) relies on sleep deprivation to force the brain to enter REM and Slow-Wave sleep almost instantly, bypassing light sleep stages entirely.

Rules Specific to Polyphasic

  • Schedule Declaration: Competitors must submit their exact schedule (e.g., Everyman 3: 3.5h core + 3x 20m naps) prior to the event.
  • Zero Tolerance: Oversleeping a nap by even 5 minutes results in a 0 for that cycle. The schedule must be rigid.
  • Architecture Scoring: Scoring is heavily modified. Efficiency is expected to be near 100%. The challenge is maintaining the schedule without crashing.
